The tempo is building up slowly but steadily. The bare-bone structure of the Pandel has been erected. Like the previous years, the kids are running from rehearsal to rehearsal - from Auntie to Didi and back to Auntie - routine has started. Tadda venue for the evening has temporarily relocated to the site of the Pandel.
Somehow, the overall enthu seems to be missing this year. The free and indomitable spirit of the Greenwoodian is missing. Or maybe our mind is still trying to get ready for the early Puja. The buzz and the running around is still missing. Everyone is trying to do the right thing...I mean making sure that i's are dotted and t's are crossed without the spirit of ....come what may, Puja will be a great success. Do not care about the distractors, they will be there.....If we keep going this way, the Puja that we enjoy so much, will lose it's charm. I think, for a starter, we have to back to the "spirits" and let it re-kindle our inner spirit....

We are missing the bee-line of the advertisers....that is for sure.

Puja - Getting started - July 25th

Things are getting started. The steam is yet to pick up. Typically, the Puja fever starts catching up from the day the Ad forms are distribured. Hopefully, in a day or two, it will be done. The rehearsals for the culture programs have started. On this front also, things are slowly shaping up. We are yet to see the GWN kids running from rehearsal to rehearsal - like we saw in the last year.

The food menu for the non-veg items have been more or less finalized. Looks really good....will surely put on at least 5 kgs during the 5 days of Puja.

Amit Ghosh - Our one and only Amitda - has been entrusted to design the pandal. This morning, I got to see the design. It is simple yet beautiful........Amitda's trademark..........brilliant.

Durga Puja is round the corner. About a couple of months left. As usual, Greenwoodians are getting ready for this Mega event.
I am getting ready to revive this blog.....well, this blog never took off to begin with. Not sure why...........
For the next couple of months...I will try to post an update at least twice a week on Puja updates....So....suvoshyo sighram....

After encountering some initial rough weather, the ship is on the way to the high seas for a cruise. The order for the Protima has been placed with Balaram Pal like every other year. The ad forms, bill books, banners are with the printer. We should be receiving them shortly.

Kalyan is looking after the food. This time, a food secy post was created and approved in the GB. As they say, a way to man's heart is through his stomach...... Amra Bangalira khetey khub bhalobashi......Kalyan babu-r kalyaney dekha jak amader plate-y ki jotey...

Puja is coming. The Puja Adda has already started. The pandal erection is going on in full swing. A lot of hard work is being put in by the participants of the cultural programme. Everybody is trying to give their best shot. All the kids of the complex are extremely busy - running from one rehearsal to the other. The ladies are doing a very good job of managing their daily routine and then spend considerable amount of time for the rehearsal. 

Chanda collection is going on. We should be able to beat the collection of last year if all of us come forward.

Lot of things need to happen between now and then to make the Puja a grand success. So far, the participation has been luke warm at best. Most of the residents still do not feel a part of it. Not sure what needs to be done to make them participate voluntarily. I guess, lot of folks are still trying to crack this puzzle.

Nano.....supposed to mean smaller than small. It is turning out to be bigger than mega. The whole world is watching a sleepy town called Singur. This is where all hell is breaking loose. What did we do to deserve this?
Firstly, the current ruling party did whatever they could to drive the industry out of Bengal. In the last couple of years, we have seen a marked change in their philosophy and their drive towards attracting more investment in West Bengal. However, someone had to play spoilsport. The opposition did just that.
Secondly, the land losers', they are waiting for the project to start off. They have been waiting eagerly for it. Does the opposition feel that they can ask the farmers to start farming the land even if the land is given back to them?
Feeling totally fraustrated...........
